How does permanent hair removal work?

The Gentlelase light travels through the skin to the base of the hair follicle where it is absorbed by the pigment surrounding the hair forming cells. The laser energy heats the follicle and disrupts the cells that produce hair.

Is the laser process painful?

We minimise discomfort by using a machine that provides intense cooling whilst using the laser on the area. The advanced cooling system enables us to provide patients with all the benefits of cold air cooling to provide temporary epidermal analgesia. This makes it far more comfortable than many other laser treatments on the market.

Why do I need a screening?

We conduct a screening with every client before the treatment to:

• Identify the area to be treated and advise you how to prepare the area before treatment
• Assess if the Gentlelase treatment is appropriate for you

How many treatments will it take?

This depends on the area being treated and can be influenced by age, hair colour, and hormones. However, studies have shown an average hair loss of approximately 80% after 6 treatments. After a treatment, hair growth will be reduced for several weeks. Then some of the treated area will possibly regrow again. Re-treatments can be carried out when the hair growth starts again until a permanent level of hair reduction that you are satisfied with is achieved.
